BlackBerry App World To Hit Italy, France, Germany and Spain This Month; Brazil and India Coming Soon

Posted by CrackBerry on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, 4:46

In a recent interview with Bloomberg , RIM’s VP of Global Alliances, Jeff McDowell, went on record to say that App World would be launching later this month in Italy, France, Germany and Spain and that it will also provide access to countries such as Brazil and India in coming months. App World’s catalogue has doubled since its launch on April 1st, now offering over 2,000 apps, but that’s still way behind Apple’s App Store which hit the 50,000 app milestone. Though according to McDowell, RIM is “very happy” with the volume of app downloads generated by App World and went on to say,  “I don’t think it matters whether it’s 40,000 or 2,000, you’ve still got a broad range of choice.” So what do you guys and gals think - in the world of smartphone apps, does quantity matter? Or is it more about having a quality app (at a reasonable price or free) that does what you need it to do? Other than the need for your BlackBerry to have more memory for apps (or the ability to save/run them off your memory card), are you happy with App World so far? Sound off in the comments!
